RJR Securities and Central and Urban welcome you to the digital public exhibition for a new hotel development at Chapel Street / New Kings Head Yard, Salford.

We’re consulting on our emerging proposals for a new 4 Star Maldron hotel development to be operated by Dalata Hotel Group.

We’re delighted to be able to present our proposals for a new hotel development. We have identified Salford as a location with exceptional potential for growth. The Greengate area in particular has encountered significant growth and development over recent years and is now a thriving city centre area. The proposals will complement the emerging mix of office, residential and apart-hotel uses around Greengate Square. It will generate jobs and investment in Salford, supporting the City’s growth and recovery from the Covid-19 crisis.

We have selected a high-quality design team to support us, led by Norr Consultants, an award-winning architectural practice with a strong record of delivering high quality urban based hotel schemes across the UK. Norr is supported by a full technical team and the designs have been developed through detailed analysis of environmental, amenity, microclimate, highways and heritage considerations.

Unfortunately, due to the current climate, we are unable to present our proposals in person and have therefore organised this digital public consultation to inform local residents and businesses of our proposals. We have advertised this event through delivering a leaflet to nearby residents and businesses and through issuing a press-release.

Summary of Proposals

The proposals include a 4 Star, 186 bed Maldron hotel operated by Dalata Hotel Group.

Dalata Hotel Group is Ireland’s largest and the UK’s fastest growing hotel operator, with a portfolio of hotels across the United Kingdom. They successfully operate the Maldron and Clayton hotel brands. They are committed to bringing forward a full service 4 star Maldron hotel at Chapel Street.

The ground floor will host a welcoming and vibrant reception and coffee lounge, ideal for leisure and business use. The first floor will accommodate a destination bar and restaurant for use by hotel guests and the general public. The upper floors will include a range of hotel rooms and a gym for hotel guests. Please note that the design of the proposals continue to evolve and may change following further feedback as part of the ongoing consultation process.

What Happens Next?

Your comments will be taken into account by the team in evolving the proposals and a Statement of Consultation will be submitted with the planning application which details how comments have been considered and responded to, where appropriate, in the final proposals.

We anticipate that a planning application will be submitted in September 2020.

Once the application has been submitted, you will have the opportunity to make comments directly to the Planning Authority, which they will take into consideration when deciding whether to support the application.

The application will be supported by a full suite of supporting documents and technical assessments, providing a detailed explanation of the proposals. These will be available to view at the Council’s offices at the Town Hall and via their website – – once the application has been submitted.
